Minister
expresses concern over gray trafficking in telecommunication;
Federal Minister for Investment Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan expressed
his concern over the gray trafficking by illegal operators in
telecommunication sector causing loss of $110 million per annum
to the national exchequer. He said this while chairing a meeting
to address various issues pertaining to telecommunication sector.

LEW, other mega projects to be discussed today;
The billions of rupees worth mega projects, approved by President
Asif Ali Zardari for Karachi and other areas of Sindh, would be
discussed at a high level meeting in Karachi. The meeting is being
held for the first time to review various mega projects after
their formal approval by the President during his visit to Karachi
on May 28.

Misleading
shortfall figures: Prime Minister annoyed with Water, Power Ministry;

playing field demanded for exporters, importers;
The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) in its trade
proposals submitted to the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) has called
for level playing field for commercial exporters and importers
to encourage them to supplement activities of the industrial sector
for economic growth.

percent advance for rental power projects: Tarin to hold meeting
with banks, DFIs chiefs today;
Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance, Shaukat Tarin will hold
a meeting with the Presidents and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs)
of banks and DFIs at National Bank of Pakistan (NBPs) head office
in Karachi on Monday to finalize loan facility arrangements for
14 percent advance payment to rental power projects.

Trade
policy to be announced this month: Amin;
Commerce Minister Amin Fahim has said that the new trade policy
will be announced in the third week of this month. Talking to
media at the Fourth Rice Export Trophy Award, organized by Rice
Exporters Association of
Pakistan (Reap) in Karachi, the Minister said that consultations
with all chambers were going on to finalize the trade policy.

Two-way
trade: Pakistani businessmen invited to invest in Indonesia;
Indonesia, being an integrated market, having liberal trade and
investment policies, provides enormous potential to Pakistani
businessmen; therefore, they must make investment there. This
was stated by Indonesian Ambassador in Pakistan Ishak Latuconsina
in a meeting at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).

National
Bank of Pakistan (NBP) marketing insured agri loans;
National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) is providing loans to farmers
after adopting proper insurance process. The NBP Chairman and
President Syed Ali Raza said that in case of death of the borrower,
the respective insurance company would pay the loan amount instead
of his heirs. The bank took this initiative to protect the aggrieved
family from any hassal, he said.
