Hasina discuss diplomatic, trade links;
Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani said Pakistan attaches great
importance to its relations with Bangladesh and stressed the need

BoI
persuades CGs for investment;
The Board of Investment (BoI) held a presentation for the consul
generals of foreign countries on the investment opportunities
in Pakistan. Federal Advisor on Textile Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig,
dean of diplomatic corps Dr Rashid Al-Rahman A Al Naimi were also
present on the occasion. Addressing the diplomats, the State Minister
and Chairman BOI Saleem H Mandviwala said that Pakistan offers
unparalleled investment potentials including high “return on investment”
in oil and gas sector, power generation, textiles, agriculture,
mines and mineral and infrastructure development, dairy farming,

Construction
of Japan Special Economic Zone to be started in September;
Japan would commence construction of the Japan Special Economic
Zone (JSEZ), with an initial investment of $5 billion, in September.
Zubair Motiwala, Advisor to CM Sindh on investment said that the
government of Pakistan has offered some 1900 acres land for the
purpose, in the vicinity of Port Qasim, 17km far from Pakistan

China
shows interest in Pakistan steel sector;
China Metallurgical Construction Corporation (MCC), which already
runs a copper mine in Balochistan, is showing interest in expanding
and modernizing Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM), the
country's only integrated steel-manufacturing plant, at a cost
of US$2.2 billion.

Mining
in Thar: UK firm given assurance by Sindh government;
Sindh government has given assurance to a UK-based firm, Oracle
Coalfield Plc, that it will be the first company, which will start
mining in Thar, official. This pledge was given at a recent meeting
between Oracle representatives Mike Joyce, Tony Scutt and Shahrukh
Khan, at the office of the Secretary of Mines and Mineral Development
in Karachi.

Businessmen
urged to explore Kazakhstan market;
Pakistan's Ambassador to Kazakhstan Irfan-ur-Rehman Raja stressed
upon exporters and manufacturers of Sialkot to concentrate on
exploring the Kazakhstan market. There is great potential for
improvement of bilateral trade between Pakistan and Kazakhstan,
especially in the non-conventional sectors, including consumers
items, furniture, light engineering goods and automobile spare
parts. The private sector has to come forward and take the plunge,
he added. He was addressing a seminar on Business Opportunities
in Kazakhstan, held at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(SCCI).

meeting regarding energy issues of Textile sector. During the

amends guidelines of MCGF ;
The State Bank of Pakistan amending guidelines of Microfinance
Credit Guarantee Facility (MCGF) on Thursday asked banks to make
a microfinance lending policy duly approved from the Board of
Director.
