plan needed to overcome problems: Zardari;
President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Pakistan needed a marshal
plan to overcome its economic problems compounded by the fight
against militancy and urged the international community to come
forward to help Pakistan. Talking to US special envoy Richard
Holbrooke, who called on him. Asif Ali Zardari said that he looked
forward to the next meeting of the Friends of Democratic Pakistan
(FoDP) for stepped up strategic and economic support to Pakistan.

Zardari
hails China handling of Xinjiang;
Backing fully internal and external approach for promoting harmony,
President Asif Ali Zardari commended China for handling the recent
incidents in Xinjiang with great sagacity.
Spokesperson to the President former Senator Farhatullah Babar
said that the President made these remarks during a meeting with
Chinese Ambassador in Islamabad Lue Zhaohui who called on him
prior to the China Task Force review meeting in the Presidency,

Ministry
told to ensure fuel supply to plants: Gilani chairs meeting on
energy;
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday directed the
Ministry of Water and Power to ensure daily delivery of 35,000
tons of furnace oil and 100 mmcfd additional gas to power plants.
Chairing the first meeting of the Special Committee on Energy
constituted following violence and protests across the country
on Tuesday.

Oil,
gas exploration conference starts today;
As part of a drive to secure foreign investments and overcome
the energy crisis, a two-day
conference on oil and gas exploration in Pakistan is being organized.
The July 23-24 “Pakistan Exploration Promotion Conference” arranged
by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources will comprise
a series of events and interactive sessions between various stakeholders
for a share in the South Asian country’s natural resources.

Industrial
policy to be finalized soon: Durrani;
State Minister for Industries and Production Dr Ayat Ullah Durrani
said that the government had decided to build a strategic reserve
of 250,000 tons of fertilizers to check its shortage during the
current season. Talking to media persons after a meeting at the
office of the National Fertilizer Corporation (NFC), he said that
strategic reserve stock would be in addition to the country's
total requirement.
